A Department of Interior press release noted that Skipwith currently serves as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Fish and Wildlife and Parks, “where her team is responsible for ensuring the protection and stewardship of lands and waters within the national park and wildlife refuge systems.”

“Thank you, President Donald J. Trump for your historical nomination of Aurelia Skipwith to be the Director of the Fish and Wildlife Service,” said SCI CEO W. Laird Hamberlin. “As Director, Ms. Skipwith will continue to be a champion for conservation and hunters.”

The July 17 press release said that prior to serving as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Fish Wildlife and Parks, Ms. Skipwith served as Assistant Corporate Counsel at Alltech, Inc.

DOI Secretary David Bernhardt said, “Aurelia is a leader within the department who has helped us execute our initiatives as outlined by President Trump. I look forward to her prompt confirmation, so she can continue her service to the American people.”

Ms. Skipwith received her B.S. in biology from Howard University, an M.A. in molecular genetics from Purdue University, and a J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law.
