The annual SCI Night of the Hunter Awards had some of the biggest names in hunting honoring some of the most accomplished hunters in the world.
Jim and Eva Shockey pumped up the crowd by reminding them that to be a hunter was to be proud of what we do and the contribution we provide to keep conservation and wildlife management programs going here and abroad.
Kendall Jones flew in to Las Vegas specifically to show support for SCI and to present the Young Hunter Award to very capable and earnest hunters Emily Perreira and Ford Cunningham.
Craig Boddington reminded the crowd that hunters were in fact conservationists and spoke on the changes in the public perception of hunting after the anti-hunters recent spate of attacks, pointed out their tactics and the adverse effect misguided and knee-jerk reactions to emotionally charged incidents can have on wildlife populations.
Ivan Carter, host and star of Carter's W.A.R. urged everyone in attendance to show the whole picture of what hunters do and what it really means in the wider scope of wildlife preservation and the impact hunters presence and dollars make in the continued fight against poaching in Africa.
