SCI’s Hunter Information Service is designed to provide members with the information resources they need on all things hunting. We’ll help you research a hunting destination, a game species, hunting operators, hunting-related services and the latest legal requirements affecting your hunting travel.
With continually increasing regulations affecting travel with firearms, hunting in different destinations and the export/import of trophies, it is more important than ever that hunters be as informed as possible. SCI is your best source of information, advice and resources. Think of our Hunter Information Service as a reference library that you can visit 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
To be launched in stages through 2019, the SCI Hunter Information Service will:
- Put contact information at your fingertips for conservation departments and hunting associations around the world
- Provide quick and easy access to rules and regulations affecting your hunting and travel
- Give you what you need to know to import your hunting trophies
- Line up the resources to research your next hunting destination
- Compile information on game species, how to hunt them and where
- Build a searchable database of SCI member hunt reports on destinations and outfitters globally
- Post a directory and searchable database of SCI convention exhibitors and sponsors offering services and products you need to hunt, travel, import trophies and enjoy the hunting lifestyle
- Develop a fact checker database to debunk the invalid and inaccurate reports about hunting and sustainable use conservation in the general media and on social media.
Visit this page often to find new resources and services that will be posted as they are developed in the coming months.

North American Hunting
Stretching from the arctic reaches of northern Canada to the jungles of Panama, the North American continent offers a lifetime’s worth of hunting experiences. More than 60 game species, subspecies and varieties of big game animals are found throughout the continent, plus about 100 species of game birds. A hunter will find everything here from large predators and ungulates in the northern tundra to amphibious reptiles in the southern wetlands.
Adding to the variety in species, North America features such a breadth of typography that a sportsman could never get bored hunting this land. There are hunting opportunities in rainforests and deserts, on rugged mountains and wide-open plains, on agricultural lands near small towns, and in absolute wilderness areas where a horse or a plane are the only way in and out. No matter what experience a hunter may seek, North America can provide it.
But with so many opportunities, how does a hunter narrow the choices? How can a hunter prepare?
This section of the Hunter Information Service is designed to help with that. Following are some resources that will make it easier to research species and destinations within North America and prepare for the various opportunities. Where possible, we also provide links to other sources that can help (such as state conservation departments and outfitter associations).
The North American Conservation Model depends on hunters to fund and support the conservation of habitat and wildlife for everyone to enjoy. Get out to the woods today!
