Baird Joins SCI Government Relations Staff

(Washington, D.C.) – Safari Club International has named Cyrus Hunter Baird as the new Regional Manager of Government Relations – State, succeeding Jeff Patchen. His first day will be March 4th.

Cyrus BairdBaird comes to SCI from the Council to Advance Hunting and the Shooting Sports, an organization SCI currently serves on the Board of Directors of, where he was the Programs Director working to recruit, retain and reactivate hunters and recreational target shooters.

Cyrus holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Clemson University in wildlife and fisheries biology, and has a background in local politics and grassroots campaigns.

Previously, he has worked for Ducks Unlimited and the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership at the local, state and federal levels to help advance pro-sportsmen and conservation legislation, and enact policies that are rooted in sound, science-based management.

“I am truly excited to be joining the leading voice in the fight to protect the freedom to hunt,” said Baird “I look forward to helping tell the story of hunters and hunting, and educating decision makers and the public on their role in conservation around the country.”

A passionate sportsman who grew up hunting in Virginia, he prides himself not just on the number of ducks or deer he kills each season, but the number of people he mentors and introduces to the outdoors.

He lives in Richmond, Virginia with his wife Megan, daughter Charlotte, and their golden retriever, Caroline.
