In an effort to address misstatements regarding the founding of Custodians of Professional Hunting and Conservation (Custodians), the organization issued a news release outlining the events leading to its establishment.
The primary issue, according to the release, was the move by the Professional Hunters Association of South Africa to remove the term “ethics” from its constitution and replacing it with the word “legal” in spite of many members advising PHASA not to take that step.
Following the decline in PHASA membership, several within the professional hunting community felt there was a void in leadership, which led to the formation of Custodians.
The news release can be read in its entirety here.
SCI is publishing this release to disseminate news of interest to the hunting community. SCI does not take a position on the contents of the release.
