Hunters and recreational shooters in Oregon BEWARE!
The Beaver State may become the first state in the nation to confiscate semi-automatic firearms from law-abiding gun owners! Extreme anti-gun activists have filed Initiative Petition 43 (IP 43).
If IP 43 passes, law-abiding Oregon gun owners in possession of so-called "assault weapons" would be required to register, forfeit, sell or surrender those firearms in question within 120 days of the ballot measure's passage.
If this measure passes, any Oregonian who is in possession of or transfers what IP 43 refers to as an unregistered "assault weapon" will be considered to have committed a Class B felony.
SCI encourages all members in the state to "decline to sign the petition." Advise friends, family, co-workers and fellow hunters to do the same.
Supporters of this extreme anti-gun measure need only 1,000 verified signatures to begin the ballot drafting process. As of March 26, supporters of IP 43 had already secured and submitted 3,000 signatures to the Oregon Secretary of State. To get IP 43 on the ballot this November, supporters will need to gather 88,000 signatures by July 6, 2018.
The IP states that a "reduction in the availability of assault weapons and large capacity ammunition magazines will promote the public health and safety of the residents of this state."
A careful reading of the proposal shows its hidden agenda – to deprive the shooting public of firearms commonly used for recreational activities.
This proposed ban on so-called assault weapons will extend to semi-automatic pistols and shotguns with detachable magazines exceeding 10 rounds of ammunition, which are primarily used for home and self-defense and some types of hunting.
If asked to sign IP 43 – Say NO! And make sure that to explain why this deceptive proposal is intended to penalize law abiding hunters and shooters!
