SCI Statement on U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Decision to Allow Importation of Elephants
TUCSON, ARIZONA—Safari Club International today released the following statement on the decision of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to Allow the Importation of Elephants from Zimbabwe and Zambia.
“We at Safari Club International (SCI) applaud the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) and the Trump Administration for their decision to approve importation permits of elephants from Zimbabwe and Zambia. Thanks to conservation efforts and wildlife management projects—many of which are supported by our sister organization, the Safari Club International Foundation (SCIF)—the path was paved for this monumental decision. With this decision, FWS is affirming the benefits of hunting to the conservation of species and the management of wildlife worldwide,” said SCI President Paul Babaz.
